You'll also need an audio mixer and video mixer - both of those items can be found on the district bid sheet. If you have AVC the video mixer is not a total necessity, but good to have as a backup. You can use your current audio mixer and video mixer if the video mixer is a V-4 model.
As long as your cameras and microphones are relatively new, you won't need to replace them. The cameras need to have the firewire cable input port. The Sony Digital DCR-HC 52s are what several campuses have. They are on the bid sheet for $228.00.
You can just purchase AVC, but you'll need to check to be sure it is compatible with the computer system you are currently using. You will need to have a video card that supports the firewire and also enough ram - preferably on a tower unit.
The new broadcast setup would still be running through your current playout cart.
The new schools all have a full blown broadcasting setup. We encourage you to visit one of those campuses to see how their systems are set up.
